Terms of use

Effective from: 21 August 2026

In case of any discrepancy, the Hungarian version of these terms shall prevail. These terms are governed by Hungarian law; this English text is a translation provided for understanding.

1. What this site is for

https://matricacheck.hu is a free, informational calculator: given two settlements, it works out which county or national road-use entitlement (a “vignette”) is required for the trip, and what it costs.

Using the service requires no registration and involves no payment. Using the site does not create a contract between you and the operator.

2. We do not sell vignettes

The site does not distribute road-use entitlements and does not broker purchases. The links in the “Where to buy” box lead to the toll operator’s own site and to official resellers — no link earns a commission: there is no partner agreement, tracking code or revenue behind any of them.

If that ever changes, we will say so on the interface itself, not only here.

Purchases are governed by the toll operator’s or the reseller’s own terms; we are not a party to that relationship.

3. The result is for information only

The calculation works from the entitlement lines of Annex 1 to Decree 45/2020. (XI. 28.) ITM, and every recommendation states which line justifies it — so that it can be checked.

Even so:

  • we are not the official source; the toll operator’s information and the decree itself are;
  • the result applies to the route the system calculated. If you take a different road along the way, a different entitlement may be required;
  • the legislation, the prices and the tolled road network may change. We run daily checks against the official sources, but time can pass before a change is carried through;
  • the map and the track serve the display; the decision comes from chainage, not from the border line.

Before buying, the toll operator’s official information prevails.

4. Liability

The operator provides the service “as is”, free of charge. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranty is given for the accuracy, completeness or continuous availability of the data.

The operator is not liable for damage arising from a user relying on the site’s result, including surcharges, fines and lost profit. This limitation does not affect liability for damage caused intentionally, or for breach of contract harming human life, bodily integrity or health (Section 6:152 of the Hungarian Civil Code).

If you find an incorrect result, write to us at [email protected] — feedback is what makes the data more accurate, and it is the fastest route to a fix.

5. Availability

The site may become temporarily or permanently unavailable due to maintenance, an outage, or discontinuation of the service. The operator reserves the right to modify and to discontinue the service without prior notice.

6. Intellectual property and attribution

The site’s own text, interface and the calculation method are the intellectual work of the operator. The text of the legislation — Decree 45/2020. (XI. 28.) ITM — is an official communication not subject to copyright protection.

The map, road network and route data come from the OpenStreetMap community database, which is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. The attribution appears in the site footer on every page; the licence text is at https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Systematic, automated collection (scraping) and republication of the site’s content is not permitted. If you need the data or the calculation, write to us — the answer is not necessarily no.

7. Data processing

The site’s data processing is described in the Privacy notice, and the values stored in your browser in the Cookie notice. In short: no registration, no form, no tracking.

8. Governing law

These terms and the use of the service are governed by Hungarian law. Any amendment to the terms is reported on this page; the effective date at the top always marks the applicable text.
