Privacy notice
Effective from: 21 August 2026
In case of any discrepancy, the Hungarian version of this notice shall prevail. This is a translation of the Hungarian original, provided so that visitors who do not read Hungarian can understand what happens on this site.
This notice describes only what actually happens on this site. It is not a template: https://matricacheck.hu is a free, informational calculator, and most of the things a privacy notice usually lists simply do not occur here.
1. Who processes your data
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Beszteri Tamás, sole trader |
| Registered seat | 1119 Budapest, Etele út 69. 6. em. 54. |
| [email protected] | |
| Registration number | 62362157 |
| Tax number | 92084520-1-43 |
| Registering authority | National Tax and Customs Administration, register of sole traders |
We are not required to appoint a data protection officer and have not appointed one: the processing does not constitute regular and systematic monitoring on a large scale, and we process no special categories of data.
2. What we do not do
We list this because a general notice usually covers all of it — none of it happens here:
- no registration, no user account, no sign-in;
- no form on the site. Contact goes through a
mailto:link: the message is sent by your own mail client, and our site receives nothing; - no newsletter, no booking, no event registration;
- no shop, no payment, no invoicing. We do not sell vignettes, and no outgoing purchase link earns a commission;
- no profiling and no automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR;
- no advertising or social media tracking code, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no remarketing;
- we use no cookies at all — the details are in the cookie notice.
If you simply look at the site and check a route, we store no data about you — neither on our side nor in your browser beyond your own settings.
3. The processing that actually takes place
| Processing | Data processed | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention | Recipient |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Server logs | IP address, browser identifier (User-Agent), the requested address, timestamp, response code | serving the site, operational security, filtering abuse and overload | Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest | according to Cloudflare’s own log regime; we store and export nothing from them | Cloudflare, Inc. |
| Contact by email | name (if you give one), email address, the content of your message | answering your feedback, fixing the fault you reported | Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest | until the correspondence is closed, at most 1 year, then deleted | Google Ireland Limited (the mailbox is Gmail) |
| Local storage in your browser | the chosen theme, your cookie decision, the vehicle category, the trailer flag, the fuel choice | so your setting survives a page load | necessary: Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest · functional: Article 6(1)(a) — consent | until you clear it from your browser | nobody — these values never leave your device |
| Traffic measurement | aggregate visit metrics, without cookies or local storage | how many people arrive and from where | Article 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent | according to Cloudflare Web Analytics’ retention regime | Cloudflare, Inc. |
| Server-side error log | the settlement URL key (e.g. budapest), error code, status — without IP or identifier |
detecting outages | Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest | according to Cloudflare’s log regime | Cloudflare, Inc. |
| Route cache | settlement pair, the calculated result | response time and the load on our own route planner | — not personal data | 30 days | Cloudflare, Inc. |
What our route planner sees
The calculation runs on a self-hosted route planner. That machine receives the coordinates of settlements — the ones our database stores — and sees no IP address and no user identifier of any kind: the request reaches it from our own server, not from your browser.
This step therefore involves no processing of personal data, and introduces no additional processor.
4. Processors
| Name | Contact | Activity |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA · cloudflare.com | Hosting and CDN service (Cloudflare Pages) |
| Google Ireland Limited | Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland · google.com | operating the contact mailbox (Gmail) |
Cloudflare, Inc. also processes data in the United States. The transfer is safeguarded by the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission and by Cloudflare’s data processing agreement.
We reserve the right to change processors. Any change is reported in this notice; if you would like more information, write to [email protected].
5. Legitimate interest — what we weighed
We rely on legitimate interest for two processing activities. In such cases the GDPR asks that the interest is not merely named but demonstrated:
Server logs. A public website cannot be operated without logging: without it neither faults can be found nor automated abuse (overload, content scraping) filtered out. The interest is the availability of the service, and the limit is that we ourselves store and export nothing from these logs: on the Free plan log export is not even available. A data subject reasonably expects a web server to log — the processing poses minimal risk to their rights.
Contact. If you write to us, answering is fulfilling your own request. The data is exactly what you put in the message, and it is kept for as long as the matter lasts.
In both cases you may object to the processing (Article 21 GDPR).
6. Your rights
You may request access to the data we process about you, its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, you may object to it, and you may request data portability. For processing based on consent (functional local storage, traffic measurement) you may withdraw your consent at any time — with the Cookie settings button at the bottom of the page, in one click.
We answer your request within 30 days; for a complex request this deadline may be extended once, by at most 60 days, of which we will inform you.
The rights are described in detail in the data subject rights notice.
Our contact for all such matters: [email protected].
7. Complaints and remedies
If you believe the processing is unlawful, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, and you may also go to court:
Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH)
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Address | 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11., Hungary |
| Postal address | 1363 Budapest, Pf.: 9., Hungary |
| Phone | +36 (1) 391-1400 |
| [email protected] | |
| Web | https://naih.hu |
Judicial remedy: you may also bring proceedings before the tribunal of your place of residence or stay.
8. Data security
The site is available over HTTPS only, and the encryption of the connection is also enforced by HSTS. A firewall (WAF) and rate limiting sit in front of the server, and the code running in your browser is constrained by a content security policy (CSP). Our own route planner listens on no port towards the outside: the only entrance is an outbound tunnel behind a firewall rule. Administrative access is held solely by the operator.
9. Amendments to this notice
If the way the site works changes, this notice changes too — and the effective date at the top always shows which text applies. Earlier versions can be followed in the project’s version history.
